R.E.A.D. Curriculum

The R.E.A.D. Redefined curriculum is designed to be used for MTSS Tier II or Tier III intervention with district educators and Dyslexia Therapists for individuals ages 6 years old and above who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling.
R.E.A.D. can be administered in one-on-one or small group heterogeneous instructional groups. It is recommended the program is done with fidelity where students receive a minimum of three, one-hour sessions of instruction each week.
The R.E.A.D. program is comprised of six total books. Each book is based in current science of reading research. The instruction is direct, sequential, scaffolded, systematic, and cumulative. Each book progresses through the upper and lower strands of Scarborough's Reading Rope, incorporating the components of Structured Literacy: phonology, phonics, syllabication, morphology, syntax and semantics to build vocabulary, background knowledge, fluency, and reading/writing comprehension.
R.E.A.D. is fully aligned with the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards (KPS) and distinguished as a gold standard reading program through the International Dyslexia Association, being awarded Accreditation Plus status. Educators who complete the corresponding professional development coursework are invited to sit for the Knowledge and Practice Exam for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI) and upon passing the exam, qualifying for the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) certification at the Interventionist or Dyslexia Specialists level.
Students will work in all domains of language through individual words and controlled text to develop fluency, build vocabulary, background knowledge in both oral and written expression, covering literary writing genres.
R.E.A.D. Redefined is a curriculum developed and written by Jane Hayes, M.Ed., C-SLDS, CALT-QI and Amy Taylor, M.Ed., C-SLDS, CALT. Jane and Amy are master level teachers and have worked as both classroom teachers and directly in Tier II and Tier III intervention for over 20 years.

The Layout

Teacher Manual
The teacher manuals were created from an educator’s perspective. Having been in the classroom, R.E.A.D. understands limited prep-time should not diminish quality instruction. Therefore, the teacher manual is laid out, displaying all the information the teacher will need for the lesson and the corresponding required student pages. When working with a student, a full lesson and all of it’s components can be seen without multiple resources.

Student Book
R.E.A.D. Student books were created to be systematically organized to support classroom management, limit transitions, and increase instructional time. All books are aligned to the R.E.A.D. Teacher Manuals. These books scaffold student learning through systematic instruction and controlled high-level text.
Don't believe us, believe them

I am an educator myself and would recommend this curriculum and training to all elementary teachers. It is truly life changing and every student deserves access to this program!
